Video: Message from ATU International President Larry Hanley.
November 1, 2013
In a video message to ATU members, International President Larry Hanley talks about the ongoing struggles the union faces throughout Canada and across the United States and how our union is preparing for these challenges.
From contract fights in St. Louis, Kansas, Detroit, and New York to privatization battles in Edmonton, Washington, DC, Binghamton, NY and Atlanta, ATU is under attack. Locals are engaged in comprehensive campaigns to build coalitions with our riders to successfully fight back.
“We are not in this alone, we need to recruit our passengers to stand and fight for transit,” said Hanley. “We need to join arms and hands with our passengers and get them on our side.”
Hanley tells members ATU will be reaching out through local officers to engage in training to bring locals together to prepare for these battles. “We have a plan to fight back and we need you to get involved and attend your union meetings, talk to local officers and volunteer.”
