Thankful for You
November 22, 2023
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
This Thanksgiving, we are thankful for Governor Healey and General Manager Eng for their commitment to working collaboratively with our union and for their strong support of our public transportation system. Our new contract, which included wage increases and recognition of longevity, was the first step in our efforts to fix the T together. For the first time in a long time, we have someone in the corner office who listens to frontline workers and is focused on improving the MBTA after many prior years of workforce cuts, failed privatization schemes, and austerity budgeting measures that helped lead to the current frontline workforce shortages and backlog of maintenance issues.
This Board is grateful for the trust you have placed in us and we will continue to work hard every day for you and your families so we can ensure respect for your efforts in the workplace. We took our pension back, we got a new contract, and we are adding thousands of new jobs—and this is only the beginning. This would not be possible without your support. We are thankful for our hard-working, professional, and good-natured members who are routinely thanked by riders on social media for going the extra mile. Enjoy your time with family and friends, and a special shoutout to those working over the holiday to help our riders get where they need to go on one of the busiest transportation days of the year.
Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving,
Executive Board
