Take Care Of Yourself
August 24, 2019
Dear 589 Family,
More often than normal, we’re seeing our brothers and sisters pass away on the job or slightly after retirement. Our health should be our top priority, which is why it’s imperative to recognize the many signs our body gives us when something just doesn’t seem right.
Regular checkups with your doctor is important, especially given our occupation. The job of a transit professional may result in high levels of stress, high blood pressure/cholesterol, poor eating habits, wear and tear on the body, and bad sleeping habits.
All of us should be able to enjoy the fruits of our labor after retirement so let’s try to take care of ourselves. While death is a part of life, we can better protect ourselves before things become worse. Any member that needs the MBTA’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) should reach out to them.
In Solidarity,
Executive Board
