Support Striking Stop & Shop Workers!!!
April 12, 2019
On Thursday, 31,000 members of the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) who work at Stop & Shop across New England went on strike.
Although Stop & Shop’s foreign-owned parent company reported more than $2 billion in profits last year, they’re proposing drastic cuts to the wages and benefits that its workers and their families depend on to live.
Furthermore, Stop & Shop won’t negotiate fairly with its workers who have built the company into one of the most successful grocery stores in New England — the epitome of corporate greed. Click here to read key facts for Stop & Shop customers.
Local 589 stands together with our UFCW brothers and sisters because an injury to one is an injury to all. The following are four ways you can show your support:
- Tell your family, friends, neighbors, and everyone you talk to, to honor the picket line and stand strong with striking workers.
- Head to your nearest Stop & Shop and join other Local 589 members on the picket line! Be sure to wear something (e.g., shirt) that identifies you as a 589 member.
- Click here to sign and circulate the following petition in support of UFCW workers
- Show your support on social media for the strike and the UFCW workers.
