Standing in solidarity with USW Locals 12003 and 12012
June 27, 2018
This week, members of Local 589’s executive board stood in solidarity with our brothers and sisters of USW local 12003 and 12012 in their fight against National Grid who is trying to cut their wages and benefits. This is the same greedy company that received a massive TAX break from Trump and the Republicans, and then asked for a rate hike on Massachusetts consumers. Their quest for profit at the expense of their workers and customers has no end.
However, that is not the worst of it. National Grid has taken the irresponsible and unnecessary action of locking out more than 1,200 highly skilled USW gas workers in Massachusetts, even though workers were willing to continue their jobs while contract negotiations continued. This is especially dangerous since Massachusetts’ natural gas pipeline system is one of the oldest in the country, with some sections having been installed over 157 years ago.
Show your support for economic justice and public safety by calling National Grid right now at 781-907-1000 and tell them to end the lockout immediately!
