Remembering Our Former Union Brother Lost on 9/11

September 11, 2024

Today, we honor our former union brother Gerard “Jerry” Dewan, who tragically lost his life on 9/11. Jerry grew up in Roslindale, attending Sacred Heart Grammar School and Don Bosco High School, before beginning his career as an Arborway driver with the MBTA.

In 1996, he followed his passion and moved to New York to become a firefighter. As a proud member of Ladder 3 in Lower Manhattan, Jerry was among the first responders to rush into the burning World Trade Center. He was on the 40th floor of the first tower when it collapsed.

A memorial in Roslindale reads, “Gerard died doing what he loved, helping others.” #NeverForgotten #OneOfUs
