Pay Raise For MBTA Managers

BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – The MBTA Board of Directors approved a 1.5 percent salary increase for July 1, 2011 and another 1.5 percent raise on January 1, 2012 for non-union employees as part of its fiscal 2012 budget, according to State House news service.Salary increases are to take effect after pending performance reviews.
MBTA General Manager Richard Davey, who is to succeed Jeffrey Mullan as the state’s new transportaion secretary on Sept. 1, told the MassDOT/MBTA Committee on Labor and Compensation that about 150 MBTA employees would be eligible for the 3 percent raise retroactive to July 3, 2011. An additional 100 managers who have received salary increases or promotions since July 1, 2010 would become eligible for the same raise on the anniversary of their salary adjustment, also pending a performance review.
According to Davey, some MBTA managers have not had merit-based or cost of living raises for the past six years.
