Passenger scratches MBTA driver with cane in South End

police crime scene photoBOSTON —A Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority bus driver was allegedly injured Saturday night by a passenger.

MBTA transit police said the incident happened at about 9:45 p.m. on a Silver Line bus in the South End between Washington and West Newton streets.

The female driver was taken to Boston Medical Center for treatment after officials said she was allegedly scratched on her face with a cane by passenger Janeene Whitehurst.

Whitehurst, who authorities said appeared to be intoxicated, was taken into custody. She was scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Boston Municipal Court.
