Message from ATU Local 589 President John Lee
November 8, 2012
Dear Union Brothers & Sisters,
Thanks to your efforts, we helped elect candidates who will fight for public transit as well as economic and social justice for all Americans. Be it a phone call, holding a sign, or talking to a friend – you made a difference and people have taken noticed, including our International President Larry Hanley.
I was on a conference call this morning with President Hanley. As he thanked all the ATU locals across the country – over 190,000 members – he specifically mentioned the amazing job and hard work that Massachusetts did to get our endorsed candidates elected. In so many words, he said it was a “grand slam” and I could not have been more proud on what we accomplished together.
I know you join with me in congratulating President Obama, Vice President Biden, Senator Warren, and all our endorsed candidates on their victories. We look forward to working with them to properly fund public transit, guard against cuts, and move Massachusetts and our nation forward for all Americans.
In Solidarity,
John Lee, President
Boston Carmen’s Union, Local 589
