MBTA Retirees Urged to Complete Survey

September 18, 2009

Earlier today, Local 589 President/Business Manager Stephan MacDougall and Recording Secretary John Clancy sent a letter to MBTA retirees asking them to complete a brief questionnaire to ensure that the union has up-to-date information on all retirees.

This action comes as Local 589 and other MBTA unions are filing suit alleging that changes to MBTA employee/retiree health care benefits are unconstitutional.

In the letter, MacDougall and Clancy said:

We want to keep in touch with you and make sure that as the lawsuit goes forward you receive the best representation possible, are kept well informed and, if it becomes necessary, can lend your voice to questions which arise.  Please complete the following form and return it to Local 589.

Thanks for your help with this urgent matter.
