Last Tuesday, the Local 589 executive board and T officials awarded certificates to the graduates of the MBTA’s first Rail Vehicle Maintenance Technician Training Program. This year-long program, spearheaded by Local 589 Equipment Maintenance Delegate John Mersereau, offers extensive training in rail vehicle maintenance to recent high school graduates with technical and mechanical backgrounds, with the goal of encouraging them to build careers with the T.
