The Executive Board of Local 589 attended the recent Massachusetts AFL-CIO “State of the Union” Conference. This 3-day intensive planning and information session included elected officials, panels on political and organizing efforts, economic overviews and discussions on the issues facing workers and unions in 2012.

Local 589’s Executive Board had the opportunity to meet with and discuss issues with many elected leaders in the Commonwealth including Lt. Governor Tim Murray, State Senate President Therese Murray, Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo and Congressman Michael Capuano (D-MA 8th CD) who is a member of the Transportation Committee in Congress.
