Local 589 Presented with Political Activism Award
June 12, 2024
Yesterday afternoon, Local 589 President Jim Evers was presented with an award for political activism at the ATU’s legislative conference in Washington, DC. The award honors Local 589 for securing a strong contract, protecting our pensions, and for working with lawmakers on Beacon Hill and beyond to improve the quality of life for our members and the communities we serve. In accepting the award, President Evers acknowledged the E-Board of Local 589 for their efforts to build relationships with local, state and federal officials. The award was especially timely as President Evers, while in town for the legislative conference, met with members of the Massachusetts congressional delegation on Capitol Hill.
