A packed house of Boston Carmen’s Union members overwhelmingly approved 4-year working and pension agreements on Sunday, September 14th.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (DOT) Board approved both agreements on Wednesday, September 17th.

On Sunday morning, Local 589 members gathered at the Boston Teachers Union where they listened to the details of both agreements, asked questions, and then voted on ratification.

The Working Agreement and the Pension Agreement run from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2018.

The Executive Board of the Boston Carmen’s Union, ATU Local 589, recommended both agreements to the membership.

The Labor Bureau’s Tom Roth, who has represented Local 589 in bargaining for 40 years at the MBTA, briefed members on the financial details of the contract and the economics of the pension agreement.

Members seeking details on both agreements are urged to contact the Union Office.
