Local 589 Holds Barn Captains’ Training

January 27, 2011

Barn Captains from across the MBTA system met today for an in-depth training seminar held by the Boston Carmen’s Union Local 589.

The intense one day seminar covered legal issues, grievances procedures, contract clauses and benefits options to insure that the Union’s Barn Captains are well trained and ready to assist members on the property.

“Barn Captains are on the front line when it comes to effectively protecting Local 589 members’ rights,” explained Vice President and Assistant Business Agent Jim O’Brien. “Local 589 has the best trained representatives on the T and our Union works hard to insure the quality of union representative on every level”.
