Dear Brothers & Sisters,

Earlier today, the MBTA sent out a notification regarding President Biden’s recent signing of the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act.

The T’s notification, cluttered with distinctions between affiliated and non-affiliated employees is understandably confusing, so I’d like to clear it up.

In recognition of this important holiday, the men and women of Local 589 will be paid holiday pay for Juneteenth!
All Local 589 employees will report to work and perform their normal hours/shifts.

This will be in addition to holiday pay for Bunker Hill Day.

The executive board and I understand the importance of this holiday, and we applaud the President for signing it into law.
