This morning, the Local 589 Executive Board, along with senior leadership from the MBTA, visited Streetcar Motorpersons TaShawna Diligent and Paul Thomas at Mattapan Station to thank them for their outstanding efforts during last week’s flash flood and freeze at Milton Station.

Operator Thomas’s keen attention to detail led him to notice the water rising above the banks of the Neponset River, while Operator Diligent ensured her passengers remained safe and informed until first responders arrived. Their exemplary performance reflects the strong work ethic of Local 589 members across the MBTA.
