F Market Street Line Dedicates Car 1059 to Mike Delia
August 8, 2024
In San Francisco, California, the F Market Street line operates PCC Streetcars painted in the colors of the North American transit agencies that ran similar cars. Car 1059 is painted in the colors of the Boston Elevated Railway, and contains a card explaining the history of Boston streetcar service. Recently, the SFMTA board of directors voted to dedicate this car to our union brother Mike Delia from TWU Local 250A after he passed away last year. Mike was a Winthrop kid who loved the T, and built a career in transit in San Francisco. His coworkers knew him as Mr. Boston, and he shared his love of the job with every passenger he served. During Covid, Mike worked with Division 2 Delegate Scott Page to help bring the MBTA’s PCC Covid shields to San Francisco to restore service on the F Line. The Carmen’s Union is grateful to see Mr. Delia’s passion for what we do honored with the dedication of car 1059 in his memory. #neverforgotten
