Executive Board Attends Mass AFL-CIO Political Convention

The Executive Board of Local 589 were active participants in the Massachusetts AFL-CIO Political Convention held September 15-16th, where Organized Labor took up candidate endorsements after the primaries.

Several statewide, Congressional and local candidates addressed the Convention asking for support in the November final election.

Panels on the ballot referendums provided information on Questions #1, #3 and #4 from a Labor prospective.

Boston Carmen’s Union President Jimmy O’Brien, a Vice President of the Massachusetts AFL-CIO, participated in the September 15th Executive Council meeting where votes were taken on candidate endorsements.

Local 589’s Executive Board had the opportunity to talk with House Speaker Robert DeLeo, State Senator Tom McGee and several of the candidates seeking Union endorsements.

The Boston Carmen’s Union while participating in the Convention has not yet made recommendations to the members regarding candidates for the November final.
