Dear members, 

Join our union brothers and sisters of IAM, Local 264, for a rally / lobby day TOMORROW (5/17) @ 9:30 AM in front of the Massachusetts State House to stop privatization of MBTA bus maintenance machinists .

It’s time to invest in a transit system that works for all us―by providing quality, reliable service for riders; collaborating with our highly skilled workforce towards system improvements and innovations; and engaging our communities to design policies that address the needs of impacted stakeholders.

We are calling on the Massachusetts legislature to ensure the MBTA does not privatize core service jobs, like bus maintenance. Privatization schemes have only hurt taxpayers, riders, and workers. As President O’Brien pointed out in recent testimony before the MBTA’s FCMB, “many of our members are reporting problems with MBTA services that have been privatized.” In short, we cannot afford more expensive, failed privatization schemes like Keolis.

All Local 589 members (on their own time) and retirees are strongly encouraged to participate. Local 264 stood by us in our fight against privatization and now it’s our turn to stand with them.
