Celebrating Juneteenth
June 20, 2022
Join Carmen’s in standing with and celebrating the Black community on Juneteenth.
Juneteenth, an annual commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States after the Civil War, has been celebrated by Black Americans for over 150 years. In 2021, President Biden signed a law recognizing Juneteenth as a federal holiday.
Local 589 is taking today to remember and reflect on our commitment to racial equality and inclusion in the workplace and our community. Everyone deserves to feel included and appreciated, and Local 589 is dedicated to advocating on behalf of our members to foster an inclusive workplace.
The fight for racial equality is not over, but today, we celebrate the progress we have made.
