Dear Brothers and Sisters,

After years of conversations with leaders in the House and Senate, we secured unanimous support, and today—with Governor Healey’s enthusiastic signature—we passed legislation to protect transit workers.

The Act Relative to Assault and Battery Upon a Transit Worker (H4645) extends existing protections for public employees to all transit workers across Massachusetts, public and private alike. We were proud to stand with ATU Local 1547, ATU Local 1548, SMART, IAM Local 264, and many other labor partners as this bill became law.
