As we remember the tragic events of twenty years ago, and those who lost their lives, we also reflect on the contributions of our transit colleagues at the MTA who heroically responded in their city’s darkest hour and who continue to suffer the effects of the attack and its aftermath. From the subway crews and bus operators who evacuated hundreds of thousands from lower Manhattan that morning, to the maintenance crews who worked alongside first responders clearing debris from ground zero, transit workers are among the heroes of 9/11.
