Governor Patrick Signs Senate Bill 2066

On November 21, 2011, Governor Deval Patrick signed Senate Bill 2066 restoring some collective bargaining rights that had been removed in the 2010 Transportation Reform Law. The Bill, sponsored by State Representatives Nick Collins and Martin Walsh, passed the House 155-0 and was enacted in the State Senate on November 16, 2011.

Local 589 Supports “Fill-A-Bus” Toy Drive for Boston Area Kids

The Boston Carmen’s Union Local 589 donated toys to the MBTA’s “Fill-A-Bus” 11th Annual Toy Drive that concluded on December 16th. The toy collection effort benefits disadvantaged children through donations to three Boston area community programs. The “Fill-A-Bus campaign has grown over the years and Local 589 has been a regular supporter of the program.
